Harry Parr was born in Burwell on 1st September 1874 (Newmarket Q4-1874 3B:517) son of William and Caroline PARR (née PORTER) of Burwell. of Clapham, London. He was married to Eliza Pleasance BARTON in Burwell on 5th October 1895.. Their address for probate was given as Grape Cottage, North Street, Burwell. By 1911 they had 3 daughters.

In the 1939 register, a transport worker, he was living at Grape Cottage,Burwell with his wife Eliza P [5-4-1876] and Reginald and Elsie TURNER

Harry died at King's Lynn Docks. "Norfolk in the Second World War" (Neil R.Storey) records that 3 high explosive and 500 incendiary bombs were dropped on King's Lynn on 24th July 1942.

His grand-daughter, June Benson,tells us that Harry and his brother Fred were sleeping on a boat moored in King's Lyn docks when the bombs fell. Fred was terribly injured and lived in pain for years. Harry was blown into the water and the divers never found him until 4 days later, caught in the lock gates.

Harry Parr is commemorated on the King's Lynn Municipal Borough Register of Civilian War Dead
and attributed to Burwell in the Second World War Book of Remembrance in Ely Cathedral
